Lucas Fortes Maya, MD began his specialization as a resident in General Surgery and, afterwards, continued with a residency in Orthopedics at the Hospital de Traumato-Ortopedia (INTO), in which he completed his eleven years of academic and practical education, in 1993. He has worked on the staff of various emergency and routine orthopaedic Hospitals in Rio de Janeiro and is considered a highly skilled orthopaedic surgeon, familiar with complex cases. He also visited and worked as a trainee in hospitals abroad such as: Rush Medical School, Chicago; Buffalo General Hospital, NY; Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY e Columbia University, NY.
Lucas Fortes Maya, MD is a member of the main global organizations of orthopedics such as the Sociedade Brasileira de Ortopedia (SBOT), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and AO-Alumni Association, situated in Davos, responsible for the universal guidelines of osteosynthesis. He is a member of the Deliberative Council of ABBR (Brazilian Beneficent Association of Rehabilitation) and was elected for the Board of the Brazilian College of Surgeons (TCBC), in January 2020.
